PRACTICAL ACTIVITY SESSIONS FOR ADULTS OF ALL AGES
Practical activity sessions for adults within community care, dementia care, nursing and retirement settings.

About Libby Service

I have enjoyed thirty years’ person-centred working with people of all ages with a range of needs in various settings and enjoy tailoring activities to suit. Adapting activities to satisfy a very wide age range, activity level, preferences, life-stories is important to me. As a finalist in the Solihull Together Awards in 2017, working out in the community with those in need is a priority for me. Providing opportunities for older people with physical disabilities is a feature of my work, as is encouraging meaningful activity for people with all levels of dementia. My activity sessions welcome family and friends. I use creative, innovative and original approaches while being mindful of CQC requirements. Running groups in your care or retirement setting or visiting for work or another setting of your choice can be arranged.

I also offer training modules, interest days and short courses to staff in your care setting - with ‘quality of life through meaningful activity and engagement’ as a key thread running through learning topics.

Musical Sessions

Tailored sessions, meeting the needs of your residents or tenants are my priority. Activities range from lively singing groups with song-books and musical accompaniment, to fun sessions using familiar songs through the decades with movement, instruments, props and nostalgia. Themed days during the year are catered-for and there’s no need for residents with nursing needs who to miss out… I am able to make individual room visits to those in need using guitar and song structures. Upon review, the cardiologist provides a interpretative report to patient’s care.

How We Used To Live

For all who enjoy those who travelling back in time or nostalgia! These interesting sessions explore life in years gone by. Each session features a different decade and includes memorabilia to handle, photographs, pictures, advertising, music from yesteryear or clips from radio or broadcasting plus historical
trivia from that era. These extremely popular sessions are available featuring the 1910s through to the 1970s.

Let's Get Active

If your residents or tenants prefer exercise to meet their need for
keeping physically active, but without over-stretching or under-estimating their abilities, look no further than Let’s Get Active! With Revitalyz training influencing the movements and activities included, sessions are fun, stimulating and enjoyable. Muscle and joint health is carefully considered and fatigue, pain and range of movement of
attendees carefully taken into account. Music selections chosen by the residents or tenants themselves help determine the mood of the session- steering it to how they want it to be.

Relaxation

Relaxation For All - Seeking to help calming mind, body and spirit. Whether your residents or tenants need chance to unwind or whether there is anxiety for an individual person, Relaxation for All can help. So often, pain and discomfort, anxiety, restlessness or sadness compromise the ability to relax.
Progressive muscle relaxation, breathing techniques and visualisation techniques have been proven successful in meeting the needs of attendees. Staff members escorting residents often report that they themselves have benefited from these sessions too!

Sensory Hour

Perhaps your residents experience profound and multiple disability or
dementia which has advanced over time. Opportunities for meaningful activity can be provided through Sensory Hour. A range of experiences tailored to meet the needs of those needing meaning
through exploration of their senses can be brought to your care setting. Some residents with less-advanced dementia may benefit from Sensory Social, which features nostalgic sensory activities which stimulate interest, conversation and social pleasure.
